This year’s social activities may have started out slow, but once they got rolling, there was plenty to do. Recently, Brother Modena, the Social chair, got together with brothers from Alpha Chi Rho and Delta Tau Delta to tri-host a party at the Delta Tau Delta house. It turned out to be a great success, the FIJI name was spread, and brothers, as a whole, became much closer with brothers from other fraternities. It went so well, in fact, that we were promptly invited to another party the next night, hosted again by Delta Tau Delta. Spreading our name to other fraternities hasn’t been our only concern, however. The night after the inter-fraternal party, the sorority Alpha Phi hosted a poker tournament, in which many brothers attended. Due in part by Brother Stine’s help, we have become closer with Alpha Phi and even plan on a mixer in the near future with the sorority. Later this year, FIJI also plans to bring back the classic “FIJI Islander” party. Details are still being worked out, but the infamous party FIJI has been known to throw is in the works. Brothers are hoping it will strengthen our name across campus and let us become one of the better known, more fun fraternities. All in all, things are looking up for Phi Gamma Delta socially, and I’m glad to be part of it.
